Supervise Asbestos Removal Course in Sydney
For licensed asbestos removal work, there must be a nominated supervisor present whenever Class A (friable asbestos removal) work is carried out. A nominated supervisor must be present or readily available to attend the site when Class B (non friable asbestos removal) work is being carried out.

CPCCDE4008 Supervise Asbestos Removal
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to supervise the removal process for friable and non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM). The unit includes planning for and supervising the removal process, including preparing the work area and the worksite, using safe and compliant removal practices, maintaining safety procedures, and supervising the decontamination and removal processes.
Ensuring compliance with the asbestos removal control plan (ARCP) is central to the effective performance of the role. This includes ensuring and documenting that required air monitoring and other testing and certification processes are conducted by licensed asbestos assessors according to legislation.
Site locations include domestic, commercial, demolition and construction, ships, soils and fences.
Licensing Requirements
Occupational licenses are required nationally. Work must be completed according to relevant legislation, the Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos, industry guidelines, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Candidates are advised to check for regulatory requirements relating to relevant industry experience for licensing purposes.
Pre-Requisite Units of Competency
This unit is required for all supervisors of the ACM removal process and the following units of competency must be completed prior to commencing:
- Candidates wishing to supervise friable ACM removal must complete CPCCCDE3015 Remove friable asbestos.
- Candidates wishing to supervise non-friable ACM removal must complete CPCCCDE3014 Remove non-friable asbestos.

Entry Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Level 2 LLN minimum (refer to Language Literacy Numeracy Chart)
- 100 points of ID must be provided on the day of training (Original)
- A statement of attainment for CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry or SafeWork general construction induction training card (White Card)
- Candidates wishing to supervise friable ACM removal must have CPCCCDE3015 Remove friable asbestos.
- Candidates wishing to supervise non-friable ACM removal must have CPCCCDE3014 Remove non-friable asbestos.

Mode of Delivery and Duration
- Training will be conducted face to face for 1 day at One Step Training.
- Training schedule conducted on client site will be negotiated with employer based on employee release availability for 8 hours total duration.
Delivery Locations
- Client site: workplace training available on request (minimum 7 participants).
Assessment Requirements
Students will be assessed using relevant assessment methods which includes but is not limited to the following:
- Knowledge evidence requires student to answer a range of theory questions.
- Performance evidence includes supervising two different asbestos removal occasions and adhere to the asbestos removal control plan (ARCP), regulatory and environmental legislation.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued with Statement of Attainment for CPCCDE4008 Supervise asbestos removal and students may also request an optional wallet sized card reflecting their achievement for an additional fee of $10.
