EWPA Yellow Card Training Program is for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs or commonly known as EWPs). Designed by EWPA, the peak industry body as best practice training, the course provides training in the safe use of various types of EWPs including boom type EWPs with boom length under 11 metres.

Course Outline

By completing this course participants will gain the skills and knowledge to:
- Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform.
- Operate elevating work platform in line with established requirements to complete work activity.
- Selecting and using the required plant, tools and equipment to perform work activity.
- Identifying site requirements for emergencies at heights.
- Stabilizing or positioning elevating work platform
• Using manufacturer approved safety devices fitted to the machine. - Moving the elevating work platform to and from work site.
- Inspecting work platform and identifying faults.
- Reviewing machine maintenance logbook records.
- Conduct housekeeping activities.
Nationally Recognised EWPA Training

Nationally Recognised EWPA Training includes:
- Vertical Lift (VL)
- Scissor Lift (SL)
- Boom Lift under 11 meters (BL)

Assessment Requirements

Students will be assessed using the EWPA assessment which includes but is not limited to the following:
- Knowledge evidence requires student to answer a range of theory questions.
- Performance evidence to demonstrate completion of operating an elevating work platform that safely, effectively and efficiently follows legislative requirements and workplace procedures.
Verification of Competency (VOC)
- Verification of competency (VOC) is used to verify worker’s current competence and assists the employer to determine the skill level of the operator for the model and make of machinery and task.
The VOC is commonly used by employers during pre-employment checks, site requirements and contract negotiations. One Step Training undertakes VOC assessment either in conjunction with training or as a VOC only request to provide to employers.
Certification and Yellow Card Issuance

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued with:
- Statement of attainment for the unit RIIHAN301E Operating Elevating Work Platform.
- Same day confirmation email from EWPA with the license number.
- Yellow card issued by EWPA via post to your mail address.
