• Day 2 : Theory review, unit of competence assessment (theory assessment) and practical assessment.

By completing this course participants will gain the skills and knowledge from RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform (Yellow Card) to:

• Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform.
• Operate elevating work platform in line with established requirements to complete work activity.
• Selecting and using the required plant, tools and equipment to perform work activity.
• Identifying site requirements for emergencies at heights.
• Stabilizing or positioning elevating work platform.
• Using manufacturer approved safety devices fitted to the machine.
• Moving the elevating work platform to and from work site.
• Inspecting work platform and identifying faults.
• Reviewing machine maintenance logbook records.
• Conduct housekeeping activities.

• Students undertaking the following courses MUST have Proof of Identification (POI) obtained through Service NSW online to undertake SafeWork NSW HRW Assessment:

• Forklift License
• Order Picker License
• EWP over 11 metres

• Please note that students must create a Service NSW Account before being able to commence the SafeWork NSW HRW Assessment as follows:

• be aged 18 or over
• have completed HRW training with a registered training organisation (RTO) in the appropriate class or classes
• have been assessed as competent in the class by a SafeWork NSW accredited assessor working for the RTO and been sent your NSA
• be able to use English at a level that enables high risk work to be carried out safely.

• your current HRW licence (if you have one)

  You must apply within 60 days from the date of issue of your NSA.

• Select the ‘Apply online’ button.

• You’ll get a confirmation email and receipt after you submit your application.
• You may be required to visit a Service NSW Centre to have your photo taken.

  Linking Documents

  Linking documents are used to demonstrate the continuity of a customer’s identity, where identity details have changed (e.g. their name).

  Customers may use the following linking documents as needed to meet the Level 2 (preferred) /

Vertical Lift (VL) Scissor Lift (SL) Boom Lift under 11 meters (BL)

• Students will be assessed using relevant assessment methods which includes but is not limited to the following:

• Knowledge evidence requires student to answer a range of theory questions.
• Performance evidence to demonstrate completion of operating an elevating work platform that safely, effectively and efficiently follows legislative requirements and workplace procedures.
• Performance evidence to demonstrate application of safe operating procedures for an Elevating Work Platform (EWP) over 11 metres including all functions within the safe working rated capacity and advising relevant person/s on site in relation to any hazards and risk elimination/control strategies.

Verification of competency (VOC) is used to verify worker’s current competence and assists the employer to determine the skill level of the operator for the model and make of machinery and task.
The VOC is commonly used by employers during pre-employment checks, site requirements and contract negotiations. One Step Training undertakes VOC assessment either in conjunction with training or as a VOC only request to provide to employers.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    To ensure a smooth process for your upcoming High Risk Work Licence Assessment, please carefully follow the instructions outlined below:

    Create a Service NSW Account

    • If you do not already have a Service NSW account, please go to the [Service NSW website] (https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/) and create an account.
    • Make sure to complete all required fields and verify your email address for account activation.

    Access Service NSW

    • Log into your Service NSW account.
    • Navigate to the assessment portal for High-Risk Work Licences.
    • Apply for a high risk work licence assessment enrolment number | Service NSW

    Enter Your Details

    In the assessment portal, enter your personal information as requested. This may include your name, contact information, and any other identifying details.

    Select Class of Training

    • You must select the class of training you are undertaking (e.g., WP for Work Platform, LF for Forklift, LO for Order Picker).
    • Ensure that the class selected corresponds with your intended assessment.

    Assessment Date

    • Make sure you book your assessment date within 30 days of receiving your AEN or it will expire

    Proof of Identity

    • You are required to provide and upload your Proof of Identity (POI) to Service NSW. 
    • Acceptable forms of identification may include a driver’s licence, passport, or other government-issued ID.

    Obtain Your AEN Number

    • Once you have completed your details in the assessment portal, you will be assigned an Assessment Enrolment Number (AEN).
    • Keep this AEN number safe; you will need to provide it to the Admin staff at DLI Training before the day of your assessment.

    Confirm Completion

    • Before your assessment date, double-check your Service NSW account to ensure all necessary details are correctly entered and that your POI has been successfully uploaded.

    Additional Tips

    • Ensure that all information entered is accurate to avoid any delays with your assessment.
    • If you encounter any issues while registering or uploading your documents, contact Service NSW support for assistance.

    Important Note

    • Arrive at your assessment venue with all required documents, including your AEN number, and your Proof of Identity. 
    • Candidates will be required to bring one approved photo ID along to their assessment to have their identity verified by the Assessor

    After the Assessment

    • Candidates no longer receive a paper NSA/AS – instead they are emailed an NSA/AS which fills the same purpose. The emailed NSA/AS should arrive in the candidate’s inbox within 1 hour of the Assessor submitting the assessment on the LPP – RTOs will need to manage student expectations in this area
    • Candidates will be required to go into Service NSW to get their photo taken for new HRW licenses
    • Both NSAs and ASs will now be valid for 60 days before expiry – Candidates will have 60 days to pay for their licence and get their photo taken – then their NSA expires, and the student will, as usual, have to re-sit their licences.
