NSW's No 1 White Card Training Course at One Step Training

White card training plays a crucial role in the construction industry and its related services. It is essential for all construction workers to complete this training to ensure their safety and the safety of others on site. Our white card training provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety practices, risk management, and emergency procedures. By completing this training, construction workers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to minimise accidents, promote workplace safety, and comply with legal requirements.

 

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. Participants must demonstrate awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to themselves and others. It covers identifying and reporting common construction hazards, applying basic risk control measures, and following procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also includes the correct selection and use of common personal protective equipment (PPE) in construction work.

 

This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:

  • Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

  • Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for Western Australia

  • Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 for Victoria

It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to commencing construction work.

Legislative Requirements
Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit. Relevant work health and safety state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm jurisdictional requirements.

  • Minimum 14 years of age
  • Level 2 LLN minimum (refer to Language Literacy Numeracy Chart)
  • Have a USI or create one from: https://www.usi.gov.au/students/Digital-ID
  • 100 Points of ID Evidence of Identity (see below)

Evidence of Identity (EOI)

  • Students must show that they are NSW residents using the SafeWork NSW 100 Points ID as listed at the following link Click to learn more about the 100 points of ID at:
  • Students must bring original EOI documents that add up to at least 100 points as certified copies will not be accepted
  • The EOI documents must contain your date of birth, current residential address, photo and signature.
  • Students who fail to provide the SafeWork NSW approved 100 points of ID, will not be eligible to commence training and must reschedule to a later date incurring the published rescheduled fee

Course Outline

  • By completing this white card course participants will gain the skills and knowledge to:

  • Identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work
  • Identify construction hazards and risk control measures
  • Identify health and safety communication and reporting processes
  • Identify incident and emergency response procedures

Assessment Requirements

Students will be assessed using the SafeWork NSW Student Assessment with relevant assessment methods which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Knowledge evidence requires student to answer a range of theory questions
  • Performance evidence to demonstrate application of WHS requirements

Certification and SafeWork NSW License

  • Statement of Attainment: Upon successful completion of the white card course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

SafeWork NSW License Assessment Card

  • Students who completed the training and assessment are sent to Administration to pay the published SafeWork NSW license fee for General Construction Induction Training.
  • Students take evidence of payment back to the trainer who issues the Statement of National WHS General Construction Induction Training to evidence successful completion of training which is valid for 60 days.
  • One Step Training lodges the following document to SafeWork NSW OLE:

    Signed/completed SafeWork NSW Evidence of Identity and Record of Training for General Construction Induction Training under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (CIC-EOI/ROT-2).

  • SafeWork NSW contacts the student via email or SMS to advise that their SafeWork NSW White Card has been approved and the duration to expect to receive the White Card.
  • Students will receive their White Card License card from SafeWork NSW.
  • Students may work using the Statement of National WHS General Construction Induction Training to work until they receive their White Card
